Ibori: Ijaw leader salute monarchs for honoring former gov

COORDINATOR of Ijaw Monitoring Group, Mr  Joseph Evah, has expressed appreciation to two leading traditional rulers in Ijaw land that honoured the former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori with chieftaincy titles.

Comrade Joseph Evah

In a statement, Evah thanked the Pere of Kanbowei Kingdom and Pere of Akugbene-mein for showing to the world that Ijaw people have appreciative spirit by honouring the former governor.

According to Evah: “The honour for Chief Ibori by our Kings was endorsed by Ijaw all over the world and not just Ijaw of Delta State because the vision Ibori had by giving us the Bomadi Bridge and making the former old western Ijaw area a place of pride is legendary.

“The two major institutions in Bomadi town, St. Bernard College and Esenaebe College light-up education in western Ijaw area by producing Supreme Court justices, Chief of Army Staff, National Security Adviser, Chief of Defense Staff, Ministers, governors, ADC to presidents, diplomats, professors, business gurus but was so backward until  Chief Ibori like a star, appeared in Niger Delta and saved us from embarrassment.

“The bridge which was completed on record time because of the determination to make it happen, has activated the transformation of old Western Ijaw economy including human and physical development.

“I wish to appeal to the current state governor to officially name the Bridge that will be connecting over 500 communities to the outside world after the former governor as “JAMES IBORI BRIDGE” like the Ibrahim Babangida Bridge in Lagos with sign-post at the bridge head.”
