The Federal Government has said that it is targeting to create two million jobs in the manufacturing sector this year with the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, EGRP.
The Special Adviser to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investments, Mr. Femi Edun, who disclosed this at the Nigeria-South Africa Chamber of Commerce breakfast in Lagos, also said that the FG has also planned to raise the manufacturing sector’s contribution to the Gross Domestic Product, GDP, by 20 percent. With the theme, “Manufacturing as Springbroad for Nigeria’s Growth” Edun opined that Africa was the last frontier for manufacturing in the global market and economic system.
He noted that the issues of power, infrastructure and logistic must be addressed by the government in order to create an enabling environment for the sector to thrive.
