CALABAR— MINISTER of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Usani, has said the Federal Government through the ministry was determined to empower every family in the Niger Delta with skills and capacity building in order to end poverty in the region.
Pastor Usani stated this, weekend, in Calabar, Cross River State at the close of a three-week capacity building training on poultry and fishery production and marketing skills for 90 persons drawn from the states of the South-South region.
The minister said the capacity training was aimed at impacting practical and theoretical knowledge on youths of the region with a view to providing them with employment and expanding the economy through agricultural activities.
He said: “You have been impacted with live skills on poultry and fishery production to equip you for the future and also to create jobs for others. You should, therefore, ensure that you make good use of what you have received in knowledge and monetary component.”
Usani represented by Phillip Ndiobu, a deputy director in the ministry, said: “This training is a continuous one because as you can see, your graduation is coming after your colleagues passed out last week and more people have been penciled down for the second phase of the exercise coming up soon. Therefore, there is no need for anyone to protest for not being part of the programme this time.”
