IN a bid to build passion for future careers among pupils, Diagold Nursery and Primary School, Ladegboye, Ikorodu, has organised a programme tagged: Diagold Week, to exhibit various professions.
Speaking to journalists at the exhibition, proprietess of the school, Mrs. Modupe Adewoye, said Diagold Week is a professional, health talk, cultural, fruit and colour week. She said that Diagold Week was first held in 2014, adding that it was all about exhibiting the professions to enable the pupils know the impact of what they want to do in future.
She said: “The event showcases the different professions pupils would want to go into in life. Such professions include medicine, law, accounting, engineering, teaching, banking, police, among others. On the fruit day, we bring different kinds of fruits for the children to identify.
For the cultural day, we exhibit the kinds of cultures we have in Nigeria but this year, we are only featuring the three major ethnic groups we have in Nigeria: Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo.
The dish prepared for that day will carry the types of food eaten in Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo lands and we believe that this programme has come to stay by the grace of God.”
Meanwhile, during a courtesy visit to the Baale’s palace by the pupils, the Baale of Ladegboye, Chief Joseph Giwa Imale thanked the school and the teachers for organising such a programme.
