By Dayo Johnson

AKURE—FOLLOWING a court verdict asserting his supremacy, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi has promised to work with other traditional rulers towards bringing development to communities in Ondo State.

•Oba Aladelusi: Deji of Akure

Oba Aladetoyinbo said this in his palace while reacting to an Akure High Court judgment which upheld his supremacy over other community in the two council areas.

The monarch pointed out that the judgment would further bring about unity as he would continue to use for peaceful coexistence among all traditional rulers in communities.

Recall that the Oloba of Obaile and others had dragged the Deji of Akureland to court over the legality of chieftaincy appointment made by him in Akure North council area of the state.

But delivering  judgement  Justice W.A Akintoroye of the state High Court had ruled in  favour  of the Deji of Akureland asserting his supremacy over other communities in the two councils namely Akure South and Akure North council areas in the state.

The court affirmed the power of the Deji as the consenting and prescribed authority for the installation of minor chiefs and Olojas in the domain which is traditionally and constitutionally associated with the Deji’s stool notwithstanding the bifurcation of Local Government.

The Oba, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Adeyeye Michael, said: “It is a gross contradiction of historical fact and indeed, logic to assume that the power of the Deji is restricted to Akure South has been erroneously canvassed by the Plaintiff.
