Abia lawmaker embarks on massive renovation of schools in his constituency


UMUAHIA—IN a bid to ensure that pupils in his constituency study in a conducive environment, the member representing Umuahia Central at the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chinedum Orji, has embarked on massive reconstruction and renovation of primary schools in his constituency.

The lawmaker is also providing boreholes in the renovated and reconstructed schools to enable the pupils have access to potable water while in school as well as renovating one of the playing fields located in the World Bank Housing Estate.

The lawmaker who is also the Majority Leader in the Abia State  House of Assembly, said he was not comfortable over the dilapidated condition of some of the schools, hence his decision to intervene.

According to the sources, besides the schools being worked on, Hon. Orji has also embarked on building a new health centre in his constituency, precisely in the World Bank Housing Estate, to bring health care service closer to the people.

Besides the school and hospital projects, Orji has, according to some of his constituents, replaced some electric transformers in their area, especially, Awolowo by Owerri Road, as well as electrification of some communities in his constituency such as Palm Lane area.

“Our interest is the people; we want our children to study in a conducive environment, have access to potable water while in school. We want our people to have easy access to health care services. They are the reason we are at the House to seek how to better their living.

“We will continue to do our best to give them good representation and touch their lives in our little way,” the lawmaker said in a telephone chat.
