Sanusi spoke in Lafia on Wednesday when Federal University Lafia Alumni Association (FULAA) paid a courtesy visit on the management and to donate books to the school.

The vice-chancellor who was represented by Dr Mamuda Abubakar, the Registrar, responded to a reminder by the association over the management’s promise to employ the graduates.

He explained that the delay in employing the six pioneer first class graduates was due to the paucity of funds.

Sanusi, however, assured them that their request for employment and inclusion of FULAA in the governing council of the university would be given urgent attention.

Earlier, Yaji Williams, the National President of the association, appealed to the vice-chancellor to fulfil the job promise.

He said that the graduates had since completed their National Youths Service but had yet to be employed by the university two years after.

He also appealed that the representative of the association be included on the University Governing Council as was the case in other institutions.

He said that the visit was to enable them to donate books worth N500, 000 to the school.

Williams said the gesture was part of the association’s core mandate to support reading culture and promote academic excellence in the school.

“We have decided to enhance the books in the university library after due consultation with the management of the library.

“We thought it wise at this material time to donate these books to the university library toward upholding the university’s core value of innovation, integrity and excellence.

” These books which cover all courses currently being offered, were carefully sorted noting the fundamental areas of needs of undergraduates and postgraduates,” he added.

Williams said that FULAA would continue to support the management of the university toward implementing viable projects and programmes for the advancement of the institution. (NAN)
