Unidentified persons upturn Visionscape bins, shoot at truck

The crisis in the Lagos waste management sector has assumed a dangerous dimension in the last one week as persons suspected to represent the interests of aggrieved waste collectors shot at Visionscape trucks and upturned the waste bins of the environmental utility company in different parts of Lagos.

The issue of overtuning of waste bins was most pronounced in the Ajah axis of the state.

Reports showed that while Visionscape deploys more resources to meet the expectation of Lagosians for a cleaner Lagos, persons who are not satisfied with the role the company is contracted to play are all out to frustrate it.

It was learnt that a truck belonging to Visionscape was shot somewhere in Lagos by yet to be identified persons.

Prior to this incident, there have also been reported cases of bins provided by Visionscape being turned upside down in some areas in Lagos.

A source who pleaded anonymity said there is hope in the horison that a solution to the crisis would be found as some Lagos State commissioners, House of Assembly members and APC leaders have reportedly stepped in to reconcile the parties.

It was gathered that all the parties to the crisis were willing to make concessions in order to move the state forward.

“Since discussions are ongoing, I will not want to reveal much but I can confirm that parties are discussing and they have all signified readiness to shift grounds to address waste management in the State,” the source said.
