BENIN-CITY—CHAIRMAN, Board of Management, University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, Dr Bashorun Adewolu has tasked the management of the hospital on the need to embark on research and training with a view to addressing the challenges in the health sector.
Adewolu who spoke shortly after the inauguration of the UBTH Board in Benin City, urged the authorities of University of Benin, UNIBEN, to continue to partner the hospital in the areas of research and training so as to have credible manpower in the health sector.
Stressing the need for the authorities of both institutions to sustain the legacies of former governor of old Bendel State, Dr Samuel Ogbemudia who established UNIBEN, he pointed out that no teaching hospital will be able to function properly without a university.
“We have to keep improving every day to get the best for our hospital and that is why we are emphasising on research and training,” he said.
Both the authorities of UNIBEN and UBTH need constant collaboration in research works and training.”
On his part, Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Darlington Obaseki said his administration had embarked on several reforms which according to him were yielding fruits, adding that the welfare of staff of the institution and infrastructures are key in the reforms.
