In an effort to correct the impression that the job of the police is all about chasing offenders, Zone 2 command, Lagos has passionately devised means of bridging the gap between the police and youths.
Dolapo Badmus
The command under the auspices of the youth-loving Chief Superintendent of Police, Dolapo Badmus, will on March 20 stage an all celebrity-packed free show tagged ‘Security Concert” at Ade Ajayi Auditorium University of Lagos starting from 8:00a.m.
In attendance will be top entertainment celebrities who in recent times have been involved in police-friendly activities. Those celebrities include Dr. Sid, Korede Bello, Sound Sultan, Ruggedybaba, and Small Doctor. Others made up of Nollywood stars are Funke Akindele, Odunomo Adekola, Omoni Oboli, etc.
Notable personalities scheduled to grace the occasion are the legal attaché to the United States Consulate, Rolland Avediciian; Co-founder Red Media Group, Debola Williams; current reigning queen, Miss Intercontinental Africa, Queen Chizoba Ejike; Cyber Security Expert & Red Hat Examiner, Dayo Adesanya; and the Royal Father of the day, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi.
Highlights of topical issues billed for discussion are social vices such as cultism, internet fraud, drug dealings and related offences. The command no longer wants to see the younger ones who are the country’s future behind bars. It is therefore ready to partner with them to create a better society. It is a security concert that will certainly bring change in the society.
Speaking to Vanguard Arts & Reviews, Dolapo Badmus revealed her passion for youths. “I am passionate about the youths, not only because they are the future of our country but because I am also one. There can’t be any national development without capacity development of the youth. I don’t want to see any youth behind bars simply because they lack mentorship. I, Dolapo Badmus, a Chief Superintendent of Police will burn my energy to mentor the younger ones rather than running after them trying to get them arrested,” Dolapo said.
“Our youths must be free from social vices. It’s a campaign against cultism, internet fraud and drug dealings by youths. Together we can create a crime-free society. It’s a security concert tagged ‘The youth, a tool for national security” she said.
