Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Imohimi Edgal, led teams of policemen to raid criminal hideouts at Gberigbe Orelade community in Ikorodu area of Lagos, with a warning to hoodlums to either turn a new leaf or leave the community and the entire state for good.
Vanguard reliably gathered that since the raid, which followed complaints on criminals’ activities via one of Edgal’s lines released to the public, criminal activities had dropped drastically.
Describing the Police boss’ action as proactive, residents of the community, during their monthly security meeting, confirmed that acts of criminality had reduced.
While calling on the CP to sustain the tempo all over the state, one of the residents, Mr. Mukaila Solagbade, said: “We are happy at the Commissioner’s visit, as it sent a message of warning to all.
“But we are asking for more of such and we pray that Almighty God strengthens him (CP) to do more.”
Another resident, Madam Sefinat Abolore, urged Edgal not to relent in bringing sanity to the community and its environs, lamenting that “this community had experienced weeks of criminal activities, but with the Commissioner’s visit, the community will bounce back. We plead for a doubling of preventive security measures.
“The community is appreciative of Mr. Edgal’s quick intervention towards ridding the community of criminality and, thereafter, solicited for more of such responses so that the hoodlums will not find their way back.”
