Garba Umar, Chairman of the Nigeria Police Machine FC, sad he was confident confidence both the male and female teams would ply their trade in the elite divisions next season.

Umar said in Awka on Tuesday that the teams were undergoing serious re-engineering to position them for excellent finish in the current season.

According to the chairman, who is also the Commissioner of Police in Anambra, said recruitment of younger and talented players was going on to replace the ageing members of the team.

“You know the Police Machine team (male) is now in the second division and they are topping the table.

“Our target is to play in the Premier League and when we achieve that aim, you will realise that the police machine is the best football team in the country.

“The team is currently under reconstruction, we are recruiting new and young players because we have some ageing players in the team now.

“These boys are the ones that can sustain the spirit of the machine team, the ones that can take over from the crop we have in the team now.

“Definitely, next year, the Police Machine team will be in the premier league,” he said.

Umar said the female team was also doing well and that they would soon join the league of top female football teams in the country.

He said the Police Machines were working hard to join in producing the finest players in the country, adding that personnel with talent of football were being encouraged to join.

“We also have the female Police Machine team, they are also doing well and we are harnessing the successes of what they have been able to do so that we can progress.

“Soon, they will be in mould of rivers Angels, Sunshine Babes and other top females teams in Nigeria,” the chairman said. (NAN)
