Pillars now have 21 points from 11 matches.

Lobi Stars won 1-0 at Heartland, hosts Rivers United forced FC Ifeanyiubah to a 1-1 draw in Port Harcourt and Sunshine Stars and Enugu Rangers played out a 1-1 draw in Akure.

Abia Warriors compounded the problems of bottom team Kwara, Niger Tornadoes held home team El Kanemi Warriors to a scoreless draw and Nasarawa scraped past Wikki Tourists 1-0 in Lafia.

In Kano, NPFL leading scorer Lokosa made up for a penalty miss by scoring Pillars second goal five minutes from time.

Youngster Alhassan Ibrahim, who has been called up by the Nigerian U20s, opened scoring after 58 minutes from the penalty spot.

One-time CHAN Eagles defender Austin Obaroakpo was the match winner for Abia Warriors against visiting Kwara United after he netted on 52 minutes.
