Protest against PMS price hike in Abuja

Lagos—Director General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Hakeem Dickson has said appropriate legislation and regulations with adequate means of enforcement are key policy instruments for the protection of workers in a city fast developing into a Mega City.
Dickson, in his keynote address at a law colloquium on Adherence to Occupational Safety Standards in a Mega City organised by the commission for stakeholders in the sector held in Lagos, stressed on the need for a representative organisations of employers, adding that workers must be consulted at the various stages in the preparation of safety laws and regulations which he said was the rationale for bringing together Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, NECA, Certified Institute of Professional Managers, CIPM, LSG, International Labour Organisation, ILO, Trade Union Congress, TUC, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and seasoned professionals in safety under one roof to bring to light issues that hinder or promote adherence to safety compliance in Lagos State.
The Director General, who lamented on the neglect of occupational health in developing countries, pointed out how it affected productivity because of many social, economic, and political challenges.
