ABUJA—House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, yesterday, ordered the Permanent Secretary of Police Service Commission, PSC, Mr Istifanus Musa, to refund to the federation account the N12 million spent on workshop in 2014 without budgetary provisions.

House of Representatives

This was based on the queries raised by Auditor-General to the Federation, AuGF, in 2015.

The committee, chaired by Kingsley Chinda (PDP, Rivers), had observed infractions that breached constitutional provisions, particularly Section 80.

The infractions, according to the AuGF, bordered on how a workshop was conducted in Nasarawa State in 2014 and payment of N12 million was made in 2015 to the beneficiaries without appropriation in 2015.

According to the AuGF, it is a clear violation of Financial Regulation and the funds have to be returned.

The committee members were unanimous in their various positions, declaring that the AuGF’s audit report should be upheld.

In his response, the Permanent Secretary, Mr Istifanus Musa, admitted that there were infractions, “we made all the necessary documents available to the AuGF in 2015 because the releases in 2014 came late.”
