Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, DESOPADEC, has supplied the Orogun Government Hospital, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State with medical equipment worth millions of naira to facilitate treatment of patients.
According to the DESOPADEC Commissioner for Ughelli North, Ethiope East and Urhobo in Patani LGAs, Mr Pius Ovije, who donated the equipment to the hospital, the commission also donated similar facilities to the primary health care centre in Orogun to rescue the hospital from its deplorable state where many of the equipment had either been obsolete or abysmally inadequate.
He said: “As you can see, the hospital lacks so many basic facilities needed to carry out proper health care delivery and such a situation normally makes it very difficult for doctors and nurses to do their best when administering treatment on patients.
‘’So when I got to know of some of the challenges faced here, I felt the pain, so we decided to use the mechanism of the commission’s corporate social responsibility to the people, that is why we supplied all these equipment to the hospital.”
