Delta govt donates cash to 30 victims of rainstorm, fire

ASABA—DELTA State Government has given cash to 30 persons whose houses and properties were destroyed by rainstorm and fire in 2016 at Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area, Delta State, as part of effort towards alleviating their sufferings.

Presenting the materials on behalf of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Mr. Ernest Ogwezzy, said the donation was to bring succour to the victims.

Ogwezzy held that government was committed to the welfare of Deltans, noting that Governor Okowa empowered the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, to respond to the victims in Obiaruku.

His words: “The presentation of cash gifts to you is a demonstration of Governor Okowa’s commitment to prosperity for all. I implore you to put it to good use for your benefit and that of mankind.”

Responding on behalf of the victims, Chief Chiekem Daphey, thanked the state government for coming to their aid.
