Akure—A fishing expedition by five primary school pupils in Ondo town, Ondo state, has ended in tragedy, as one of them, identified as Samsodeen Adeniran, reportedly drowned in a river located at Lisaluwa Street in the town.
The boys were said to have gone fishing shortly after a downpour in the area.
Reports had it that the friends had agreed to go a fishing at River Saluwa in the town with the hope that they would make some catch after the downpour.
He was alleged to have jumped into the river, but did not come up swimming, which caused his friends to raise the alarm.
His parents were reportedly informed of the incident and a report was lodged at Funni-Fagun Divisional Police Station in the town.
A search party was raised and its efforts later paid off after some hours, as the lifeless body of the boy was discovered wegded between some woods.
