STANDARDS Organization of Nigeria, SON, has vowed not to relent in its fight against poor quality products that put consumers at risk in Nigeria.
Speaking during a one day general sensitization workshop in partnership with Promex Multi-Services Nigeria Limited, Director General of SON, Mr Osita Aboloma, reiterated that the organization would not compromise the wellbeing of consumers. The workshop was focused on increased awareness on quality and environmental management system standards (ISO 9001 & 14000).
Aboloma who was represented by the South South Regional Coordinator, Mr Papanye Don-Pedro, said the organization has declared as uncertified products that leads to poor customer satisfaction, as well as those that lead to low sales, zero re-purchase, and loss of money to buyers.
He said producers must show responsibility to their environment in the quality of goods and commodities they produce.
He said producers have no other option than to gain customers’ confidence since the International Organization for Standards, ISO has offered them a systematic approach for measuring and improving environmental impact, developed standards for products using techincal experts which has helped them to minimise how their processes negatively affect the environment they operate.
Aboloma said, “SON as enablers of business, will continue to provide sensitisation and adhere to quality that will help grow businesses and conform to standard practices.
“Producers should see the organization as a
reliable partner and stakeholder with regards to standards and conformity in all sectors.”
