Wizkid, Davido supremacy tussle good for the music industry, says Praiz

By Rotimi Agbana

Since his emergence as second runner up at the MTN Project Fame Season One, X3M Music artiste, Praise Adejoh, aka Praiz, has successfully charted a unique musical path for himself on the Nigerian music space.

In an exclusive chat, he bragged to Showtime that though the Nigerian music industry is characterized by pressures which could mislead an unfocused artiste, he is not under any form of pressure to outrun, supersede or out shine any other artiste’s success.

He said, “I’m not under pressure and I have never been under pressure. I understand that when you are under pressure by someone’s successes then you’re slowing yourself down. In as much as I have been in the game and I’m doing what I love to do there are still people who love what I’m doing, so I’ll just be myself and keep doing what I know how to do best. I don’t focus on another man’s success, that’s childish; I focus on myself and try to be better than my last.”

He added that though he is not in competition with anybody, the now simmered supremacy tussle between Wizkid and Davido was a good development for the Nigerian music industry.

“I think it was good for the industry, it’s good to see they are working hard; those guys are very hard working. People keep saying that this one is better than the other, trust me, those guys do not care and that is the truth. They are working hard, making the money and turning around the heat. The industry just has a way of creating stories that are not true”, he concluded.
