Kano state Government, yesterday, declared that the controversial video of under-aged voters in Kano belongs to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Speaking at the second Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, National Conference in Kano, holding on the theme Hate Speech: Halting the Tide Before it’s Too Late, govern-ment’s spokesperson and Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Muhammad Garba, said the video was shot on March 30, 2015.
His words: “The council poll in Kano was adjudged the freest in the history of council polls in Nigeria by both local and international observers. I make bold to say that the controversial video belongs to INEC.
“The viral video contained scenes where INEC card readers were deployed and nothing of such was used in the last council poll in Kano.”
The former President of NUJ, however, expressed happiness that INEC has seized the gauntlet to investigate the matter.
