Police ban unauthorized tinted glass use among motorists in Katsina

By Bashir Bello
KATSINA – Katsina State Police Command has ordered ban on use of unauthorized tinted glasses among motorists in the state.

This was as the command threatened to arrest and prosecute in the law court anyone found violating the order.

A statement by the Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Gambo Isah at the weekend said it has recently observed the proliferation of unauthorized use of tinted glasses by motorists in the state.

According to the statement, “On this note, the Command wishes to remind the general public that the ban on the use of unauthorized tinted glasses on motor vehicles is still in force.

“The Command is making it categorically clear that no person shall cause any glass fitted to a vehicle to be tinted, shaded, coloured lightly or thickly, darkened or treated in any way so as to obscure or render a person or any object inside a vehicle to be invisible without lawful authority.

“It is also an offence to aid, counsel, or procure the commission of the offence. Members of the public are to note that only vehicles with factory fitted tinted glasses are lawfully authorized to apply for tinted permit.

“The Command will arrest and prosecute in the court of law any person caught violating this order after this warning,” DSP Isah stated.
