AWKA—GOVERNOR Willie Obiano’s community, Aguleri and 18 others from the three senatorial zones of Anambra State have failed to utilize the opportunity provided by the state government for the implementation of the N20 million choose –your –project initiative.
The scheme enables the communities to execute a project to be fully funded by government and those who had completed their projects had been given the second tranche for another project. Apart from the governor’s Aguleri in Anambra West local government area, other communities in Anambra North senatorial zone that failed to execute the projects include Obeagwe in Ogbaru local government area, Ifite-Anam (Anambra West), Ukwalla (Anambra West), Ogbunike (Oyi), Umueze Anam (Anambra West), Ifite Anam (Anambra West), Ogidi (Ogbaru) and Igbakwu (Ayamelum).
In Anambra South senatorial zone, the defaulting communities are Ezira (Orumba South),“ Ihite (Orumba South), Oraifite (Ekwusigo), Awgbu (Orumba North) and Nnewi (Nnewi North).
Those in Anambra Central senatorial zone include Awka (Awka South), Oba (Idemili South), Ugbenu (Awka North), Isiagu (Awka South) and Ebenebe (Awka North).
The issue came up during the weekly meeting of the state executive council, with members tracing the development to what the state EXCO described as “environmental and other circumstances.”
