AWKA: A Chieftain of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Evang Chinedu Obigwe, Tuesday, cautioned those calling for the immediate conduct of local government election in the state, noting that the election will take place in due time when the governor of the state is ready.
Obigwe, who is also the National Coordinator APGA Media Warriors Forum made the call in Awka through a statement he issued to newsmen.
“Stop overheating the polity and desist from mounting pressures on Governor Willie Obiano. He will conduct the Local government election when he is ready. If you are among the group doing this, I urge you to stop”, he said.
He asserted that the Governor is sincerely committed to the conduct of local government election hence the reason why he made budgetary provisions for it in the 2018 budget.
Obigwe lauded the cordial relationship that exists between the Legislative arm of government and The Executive arm of government in the state.
He urged pressure groups operating in the State to refrain from overheating the polity with unnecessary agitations and join hands with the administration of Governor Obiano to deliver dividends of good governance to the people.
He said that Governor Obiano should be allowed to be sworn in for his second term, settle down and then plan for the proposed local government election.
He further said that it will not be in interest of the State for mischievous politicians working through some pressure groups to strain the relationship between the Executive and the Legislative arm of the government.
