Herdsmen attacks: Police’ve lost fire power —Ex-DIG Ekpoudom

By Harris-Okon Emmanuel

UYO—Former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Prince Udom Ekpoudom, has lent his voice to public outcry on the nefarious activities of herdsmen, saying that the massive killing and wanton destruction of property were damaging the image of the country.

He also said that the Police may have lost the fire power  in checkmating the unholy activities of the herdsmen and advised the Federal Government to strengthen security operatives to save the country from descending into anarchy.

He said:  “The herdsmen killing is damaging the image of the country. My advice is that the Federal Government and the Police need to checkmate it, but it seems the Police have lost their fire power. The Federal Government prefers to use other bodies which are not bad, but the Police have their jobs to do. In crime fighting, we need money. In Nigeria, the crime rate is high and the fund allocated to the Police is inadequate.”
