BIRNIN KEBBI—GOVERNOR Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State, yesterday, blamed the clashes between farmers and herdsmen in the country on climate change.
Speaking at an agricultural entrepreneurship forum organised by National Students Association of Nigeria, Kebbi Chapter, Bagudu said: “Nothing but climate change forced farmers and herdsmen in this country to clash. Our task is now to consider this change and provide our herdsmen with grazing land.”
He enjoined other state governments to consider changes in climate and provide good grazing reserves for herdsmen, while also advising herdsmen and farmers to avoid talking laws in to their hands.
Earlier, President of the association told Governor Bagudu that they organised the forum to fashion out ways to stop or, at least, minimise the clashes between farmers and herdsmen in the country.
