UYO—Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has reiterated the call for true federalism, saying that its implementation was the solution to the myriad of socio-economic and political problems bedeviling Nigeria.
The governor, who stated this during a get-together and induction session of a socio- cultural organisation, Ibom Patriots, in Uyo, the state capital, said the country will be out of the woods if true federalism was practised to the letter.
Emmanuel said Akwa Ibom people will continue to mount campaign for the actualization of true federalism, calling for all hands to be on deck and expressed appreciation to Ibom Patriots for projecting the overall interest of the state.
According to him, the support of Ibom Patriots will energize his administration to further provide more welfare packages for the people of the state through industrialization, improved power supply, adequate security, quality education, road construction among others.
Also speaking, the deputy governor, Moses Ekpo, commended the group for offering the needed support to the administration and called on the people of the state to emulate the group by pursuing participatory governance, noting that the administration was poised to ensure political inclusiveness in the state.
Chancellor of Ibom Patriots, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen, commended the governor for his achievements in barely three years, particularly in the areas of political inclusiveness, industrialization, culture and tourism, infrastructural consolidation, economic empowerment, power supply, agriculture and economic diversification.
