ABUJA — AHEAD of the governorship election in Ekiti State later in the year, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr. Olufemi Bamishile has declared that the power of incumbency cannot stop APC from taking over leadership of the state.
Bamishile made the assertion during the opening of BSTAN Homes’ corporate headquarters in Abuja, where he called on government to partner with the firm to provide decent and affordable houses for Nigerians.
He said: “I don’t buy into the power of incumbency people talk about as advantage of the ruling party. The system has changed in the country. What happened in the last general elections has never happened before. “I want to say with boldness that anybody bestowed with power and authority but fail to deliver will be changed. There is no incumbent power again because power is in the hands of the electorate.”
On his ambition, he said: “If you look at what is happening in my state (Ekiti), things are just so bad, with governance at the poorest level. So, we are trying to re-engineer and repackage the way things are done. There is high level of unemployment among the youths. We want to fix up for the state to move forward. And by God’s grace, when we are there, people will see the difference.”
