The Ogun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Tajudeen Lemboye, has commended the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun over what he called the radical transformation in the state’s health sector .
Lemboye said the development was as a result of the commitment and conviction of the Governor that a healthy society is a wealthy society.
He said this at Maun, Ipokia local government area of the state during the commissioning of an ultra modern Maternity Centre, built by a former lawmaker, Abiodun Akinlade. The APC Chairman who led other members of the state executive to the commissioning said quality and affordable healthcare was a major tenet in the ruling party’s manifesto.
According to him, the Mother-Child mortality rate has greatly reduced in the state, adding that hospitals in the state were being renovated and provisions for drugs and other amenities have greatly increased.
Commending Akinlade, who is a leading governorship aspirant on the platform of APC, the party chairman said Akinlade was walking in the footsteps of Amosun by personally establishing a maternity centre for the people.
In his speech, Akinlade who represented Yewa South/Ipokia federal constituency in the National Assembly, said he decided to build the maternity centre in Fanju, Maun, to ensure the immediate and quick access to healthcare.
He said, “Fanji Community in Maun local government was chosen as we observed the prevalence of some health challenges in rural areas and the need to follow the steps of Gov. Amosun, in providing timely response to those challenges.”
While describing the strides of the governor as remarkable, the APC chieftain, who facilitated many projects while serving as an elected representative, urged the people to always take ownership and ensure that government infrastructure were kept in good use for the public.
