PORT HARCOURT—Non-indigenes loyal to All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State have denied reports of N20 million allegedly given to them by the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, so they will not defect to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The Special Assistant to Governor Nyesom Wike on Social Media, Mr. Oraye Franklyn, had posted on his Facebook page a text message allegedly sent from a former commissioner to a leader of the non-indigenes that defected to PDP, weekend.
The post alleged that Amaechi sent N20 million to the group, to stop the members from leaving APC.
However, speaking in Port Harcourt yesterday, the new Coordinator of APC non-indigenes in Rivers State, Chief Callistus Nwachukwu, said the body was with APC and that the people that left did so independently.
He said: “There is rumour going round and it is a lie as they are using it as a game plan to shore up their market value and increase their bargaining power with PDP.
“They do not possess any value. They should be very careful. The three estranged officers are on their own.”
