Aladja crisis: DESOPADEC commissioner preaches peace

WARRI—Commissioner representing Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Chief Favour Izoukumor, has appealed to aggrieved parties in Aladja crisis to sheath their sword.

He spoke in Warri, at a birthday dinner he organised to honour the Regional Manager/ Regional Editor South-South of Nation newspaper, Mr. Shola Oneil, pleading that journalists do more to promote peace in Aladja and environs.

Assuring that the state government will continue to take steps to guarantee enduring peace in the area and other parts of the state, Izoukumor said as one related to almost all parties in the Aladja crisis, he will always drum up the need for peace.

He lauded journalists in Warri for dishing out reports to douse tension in the area, saying there was still room for them to do more.

Izoukumor described Oneil, as a quintessential journalist, who placed professionalism above pecuniary interest.
