Admiral Abbah urges sportsmen to imbibe discipline

…As Adelanwa House wins

Adelanwa House has emerged champions of the 2018 Navy Secondary School, Navy Town, Ojo, Inter House sports competition held over the weekend.

To emerge tops, its athletes amassed 8 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze medals after an all-action display in the competition. The students competed in the 1,500m, 800m, 400m, 200m and the 100m dash.

Aduwo House finished second while the third place went to Soro House. Wey house finished a distant fourth.

Navy Officers Wives Association School (NOWA), won both the male and female invitational relays.

Speaking at the games, Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral SAG Abbah, said that Nigerian sportsmen and women would be better off if they learn from the military discipline.

He also affirmed that the society as a whole would become better if there is discipline in all facets of the society while sports can contribute meaningfully to nation building.

Abbah, who was represented by Commodore Dickson Olisemenogor, Fleet Commander (Western Fleet), stated that the competition is a breeding ground for future champions, both in sports and in leadership.

’Sports can contribute to nation building. The standard we operate is quite high because we are building future champions. I was in Port Harcourt and I felt the standard was very high, when I got here in Ojo, Lagos, I can see that it is higher.”
