Watch out for sincere leaders, not those who seek luxury, materialism — Amir Fashola

As Ahmadiyya commissions Agidingbi Mosque

Amir, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Nigeria, Dr. Mashuud Fashola has urged Muslims in the country to always associate with leaders who have the fear of God and seek not luxury and materialism.

Dr. Fashola stated this while fielding questions from newsmen after he commissioned the Jammat Mosque located off Agidingbi road, Lagos recently.

Responding to question on the state of nation, Dr. Fashola said: “the devil has captured some religious leaders and Nigerians as predicted by the Holy Prophet Muhammad, (s.a.w). Even Isa, Jesus (a.s) predicted that religious people will come in sheep’s clothings, but inside, they are wolfs.  In otherwords, religion is a potent instrument to capture people. They indoctrinate people and use them for selfish interest. As it is happening in Nigeria now, it is also happening in other parts of the world.”

He advised the believers to always associate themselves with sincere people, and not religious leaders that seek luxury and materialism, adding that a true religious leader will not seek life luxuries and will not encourage followers in that regard.

“A true religious leader will not encourage wealth accumulation and materialism and will always discourage his followers. Have they been telling those who looted the country to return their stolen wealth? They shy away from the truth. So, the masses can only associate themselves with those religious leaders who do not seek luxury or materialism.

“If we are all sincere, religion will unite us. We can also come together to demand good governance. You will not see a true  Muslim who hates and kills his neighbour or people in the society. I am friend to all, I love all and hate none. That is the only way you can serve God.”

Amir Fashola said the newly commissioned mosque would reinforce the presence of the Jamaat in the Agidingbi and environs.  “It was not just another mosque of the Jamaat, but a mosque that reinforces our presence in Agidingbi. We knew that the former mosque along the Agidingbi road which was one of the earliest established mosques of the jamaat might not stand due to the expansion of the road. Allah has provided another bigger and more beautiful mosque for the Muslims located off Agidingbi road.

Earlier, the Agege circut President, Alhaji Ashimiyu-Towolawi Bashirudeen in his speech at the occasion said  the construction of the new mosque was not without constraints. “We faced a lot of trials and tribulations, one of our members even almost lost his life during the period.” He urged the Amir to pray for all those who made the completion of the Mosque possible.
