In the issue of Vanguard publication for November 14, 2017, we published a caption/story which has purportedly a report of the Federal High Court proceedings of November 13, 2017 in a case involving Mr. Mohammed Dele Belgore SAN.
Our caption/story, which was at page 10 of the issue and also circulated online through our different online platforms, suggests that during the course of the court proceedings of November 13, 2017, Mr. Mohammed Dele Belgore, SAN, admitted collecting N450 million from Ms. Diezani Alison-Madueke to rig the 2015 general elections.
We have since realised that both the caption and the story under reference do not capture what transpired in court as the learned silk, Mr. Mohammed Dele Belgore, SAN, never admitted collecting N450 million or any sum from Ms. Diezani Alison-Madueke to rig the 2015 general elections or any election whatsoever.
Our caption/story under reference was, therefore, wholly unfounded and we hereby retract the caption/story and express our regret to Mr. Mohammed Dele Belgore, SAN, who we hold in high esteem. We sincerely apologise to him for any embarrassment and inconvenience which may have been caused to him.
