OOU graduates 15 First Class, 74 PhDs, others

The  Management of Olabisi Onabanjo University , Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, said  the institution  has produced 74 Ph.D and 15 First Class  graduands for  its 27th convocation programme slated  for next week.

The Vice Chancellor of  the University , Prof Ganiyu Olatunde disclosed this to newsmen  during a press conference  in connection with the one-week convocation ceremony at the permanent campus, Ago-Iwoye.

Prof.  Olatunde, said  5,137 graduands would participate in the convocation drawn from nine faculties and centre for continuing education centres and its affiliates.

According to him, out of the aggregate,  531 students made second class upper, 1,673 others graduated with second class lower, 1,159 students with third class, while 1,027 others made pass, including 15 First Class and 74 Ph.D recipients, in nine faculties the institution operates.

The VC noted that honourary degrees will be conferred on four distinguished Nigerians, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake of Egbaland, Prof Toyin Falola, an erudite Professor of History at the University of Houston, United States of America (USA), Mrs. Ibukun Awosika, the Chairman, First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) Plc and Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, a former President, Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).
