ASABA—ANIOMA Monarchs Assembly, AMA, has commended the Delta State Government for the successful conduct of the local government elections in the state.
AMA, in a statement by its coordinator and Obi of Abavo, HRM King Uche Irenuma II, reaffirmed its confidence in Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and expressed satisfaction with the manner the governor and his team are handling the affairs of the state.
Arguing that the Delta Central and South senatorial districts had both produced governors that served for two tenures, it said it was proper for Okowa from Delta North to be allowed to govern the state for eight years in the interest of peaceful coexistence of the three senatorial districts in the state.
Also, Olorogun John Oguma, Chief Askia Ogieh, Chairmen elect of Ughelli South, Isoko South and North, Dr Richard Kofi, Sir Ithiako Ikpokpo and Mr. Emmanuel Egbabor respectively have commended the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC for a peaceful and credible conduct of the just concluded council elections.
They also applauded the electorates for turning out massively for the polls.
Speaking at Ovwor, Oguma said that the election was peaceful and credible, adding that the exercise was going on peacefully in the local government area.
He said the Ughelli South is the home of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, adding that the opposition has no place in this area.
Ogieh described the conduct of the elections as peaceful, orderly and transparent, saying “DSIEC has done wonderfully well in the conduct of the election.Materials arrived at various wards and units at record time.”
Kofi commended the people of Ughelli South and DSIEC for the peaceful conduct of the election and also thanked the people of the council for turning out enmass to vote him and the PDP.
Ikpokpo, commended DSIEC for the early distribution of materials to the various ward, expressing satisfaction with the large turn out of voters for the election.
On his part, Egbabor described the election as free, fair.
