FOLLOWING the decision of teachers of Federal Government College, FGC, Odogbolu, Ogun State not to resume teaching until the school principal is removed from office, a team of directors from the Federal Ministry of Education will today storm the school over allegations leveled against the principal, Mrs. Akon Bassey-Duke.
The decision of the teachers has prevented pupils’ inability to seat for the term examination.
However, the nature of the allegations was not clear.
Speaking exclusively with Vanguard yesterday, the Director of Press, Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Ihuoma Chinneye said that the Federal Ministry of Education is already aware of the allegations, adding that a team of directors have been sent to the school for investigation.
According to her, the directors would be at the school today to probe the allegations leveled against the principal.
She said: “The Ministry is still investigating because it is still an allegation for now. It has sent a team already; I am sure that by today, they would be on the ground at the school to know what is going on.
“As at Friday, the team of directors was asked to proceed to the school. On Monday, I will know if they have reached there. The Ministry is aware and Government is seriously investigating what happened.”
In her reaction, the embattled Principal, Mrs. Bassey-Duke declined to comment saying “anything you want to talk about the students should be directed to the PTA chairman. We have a PTA chairman and everything about the children, the chairman is aware. He just left my house not long ago. You can find a way of getting his number, so he can talk to you.”
