Edo Forum of Patriots laments state of proposed education varsity

By Simon Ebegbulem

BENIN—Edo Forum of Patriots, comprising political leaders and professionals in Edo State, has written to the state governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki,  expressing its concern over what it described as the sad state of the proposed University of Education, Ekiadolor, and appealed to the governor to hasten the processes which will transform the College of Education, Ekiadolor, to a university in order not to jeopardise the future of both students and staff of the College of Education.

The letter by Messrs Bright Omokhodion and Austin Atakpu, for the Interim Management Committee of the forum, recalled that the preceding regime of former Governor Adams Oshiomole put in place, the process of upgrading the former College of Education to a full-fledged university.

“To do this, the law establishing the state- owned College of Education was repealed and a new one enacted to back the upgrade of the college to a university by the Edo State House of Assembly,” it said.
