Sango-Ota (Ogun), – Two men — Michael Ozurumba and Opara Kennedy — who engaged others in a free-for-all in Ota, Ogun, were on Thursday released on a bail of N100,000 on the orders of a magistrate.

The accused — Ozurumba, 35, and Kennedy, 14 — were also granted two sureties in like sum.

The court insisted that the sureties should be tax payers in the state with tax clearance and also must be resident in the area.

The accused, whose addresses are unknown, are facing a two-count charge of assault and conspiracy.

Both pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Earlier, Prosecutor Chudu Gbesi told the court that the accused with others still at large committed the offences on Dec. 21 at 9.00 a.m. at Agboluage Street in Elerinko area of Gas Pipeline, Ota.

Gbesi said the accused conspired to assault two men — Roland Abayomi and Sadiq Adewale — by beating them.

The offences contravened Sections 351 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr S. O. Banwo, adjourned the case until Feb. 27 for hearing. (NAN)
