ABAKALIKI-IT was indeed glitz and glamour at Uburu, the hometown of Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State as members of the State Executive Council celebrated their boss in a grand style.
The members, made up of Commissioners, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, Principal Secretary, Deputy Principal Secretary, the Attorney–General of the state among others, came to felicitate with Governor David Umahi in the spirit of the yuletide.
The occasion which was marked with different presentations, encomiums and accolades for the Governor following his good works for the people of the state and his prudent management of state resources, witnessed presentation of gifts to the Governor as the Exco members pledged their unalloyed support to him and his administration.
The event took place at the Event Center of Osbourn La Palm, Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state. The visit was coordinated under the leadership of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kelechi Igwe as the Council members turned out en-masse to celebrate the man they tagged: A trailblazer and Record breaker in Ebonyi State.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor, Barrister Kelechi Igwe explained that the team came to celebrate with their leader, the Governor of Ebonyi State who has piloted the affairs of the state creditably.
According to him, they came to thank and appreciate the Governor and also to reaffirm the loyalty of the entire Exco members to the leadership of the Governor.
The Deputy Governor highlighted some of the achievements of the Governor within his short period in office to include: Widows care, care for the indigent and less privileged, massive empowerment schemes for the unemployed youths and women, construction of three flyovers, massive infrastructural development across all the 13 local government areas among others.
According to him, the Governor has shown a clear difference between a working Governor and a sitting Governor.
Responding, Governor Umahi who appreciated the presentations made by the members of the State Executive Council, charged them to remain committed and focused in their assignments as the state in 2018 would experience greater achievements.
Highlights of the visit included the hand over of gifts to the Governor in appreciation of his commitment to the service of the people of the state.
