APC C-River crisis: Group rejects suspension of Niger Delta Minister

By Emma Una

CALABAR—THE crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State, deepened, yesterday, with a group  of executive members of the party accussing, Mr Hilard Eta, the  National Vice  Chairman South-South,  of acting illegally by suspending  the Minster of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Usani.

In a statement by Egbe  Owan Ayang, state Organising Secretary and Lazarus Undie, the state Legal Adviser of the party on behalf of 25 other members, the group said there was no item on the agenda for the meeting held on January 27, which called for the suspension of Usani nor was there a resolution at the meeting to suspend the minister.

“The Working Committee observed that there was no competent meeting validly called for 27/1/2018 in the notice of meeting issued through a text message on 24/1/2018 for a meeting  to hold on  27/1/2018 as it violates Article 10 of the APC  Constitution, which requires at least 14 days for a valid State Working Committee meeting.”

According to the group, the issue of suspension of the Niger Delta Minster was smuggled into the agenda of the meeting.”
