UMUAHIA—ABIA State Government said it will launch a N15 billion security fund  next Wednesday, as part of its effort to enhance the present security situation in the state.

Money from the security fund would be used to procure logistics, including high-tech security equipments, vehicles, welfare of the security personnel, among other things.

To ensure the success of the launch, a six-member committee, comprising of army, Directorate of State Services, DSS, Police, Security Adviser, under the chairmanship of the deputy chief of staff, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, has since been working to realize government’s aim.

Briefing journalists yesterday in Umuahia, the chairman of the committee, Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai explained that the Security Fund launch was in line with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s determined effort to provide maximum security for the State.

Ukpai said that the governor realized the need for good security to be available for business to thrive in the state, hence ,the need for the fund to strengthen the security of the state.

According to him, the fund will be used to re-strategize and strengthen the security architecture of the State with a view to making stronger to ensure that eye Abian sleeps with his/her eyes well closed.

Ukpai called on all Abia people, including corporate bodies, to contribute to the funds no matter how small, saying that the provision of security is everybody’s business.
