YENAGOA— TRAGEDY struck, yesterday, at the popular Swali Market in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, when a truck rammed into a crowd of roadside traders, killing a woman and injuring several others.
The truck, with number plates XC 858 NNE, was conveying sand to an undisclosed location in the densely-populated Swali community, when the incident occurred.
An eyewitness disclosed that the tipper-lorry, which was transporting sand, was descending the Ekole Bridge when the brakes failed, forcing it to ram into a bus before crashing into the busy roadside market traders.
It was gathered that the driver of the tipper, who also sustained injuries, was almost lynched by traders.
