A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has slammed politicians who distribute money, rice, tricycles, sewing machines, generators and other commodities as means of empowerment instead of using their offices to stimulate institutions, industries and investments for the youths to be gainfully employed.
Onuesoke, who made the condemnation while responding to questions from journalists in Abuja on the growth of unemployment rate in Nigeria, blamed politicians for shelving their main responsibility of attracting industries and investments to their constituencies for the creation of employment to rather distribute rice, tricycles, motorcycles, sewing machines and generator among others as means of empowerment.
“If for instance there is an industry or investment in a particular community, the people of the community will benefit hence it will provide jobs and other avenues of revenue generation for them. The investment will equally attract other businesses that will act as means of revenue generation for the people,” he said.
