ASABA—DELTA State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has assured that the state Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, will be empowered to carry out more projects in 2018.
Okowa, who spoke during the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, local government election campaign in Koko, Oghara and Sapele in Warri North, Ethiope West and Sapele Local Government Areas respectively, for the January 6, 2018 election, assured that the Sapele Road dualisation and Market projects will be completed before May, 2018.
He said that with the massive turnout of party faithful at all the PDP campaign rallies, all the party’s candidates will win landslide in the local government elections.
Okowa said: “PDP is a party that believes in planning, hence the vigorous campaigns to ensure victory for all our candidates. With the crowd of party faithful here today, there is no doubt that the party’s candidates will win landslide come January 6.”
In his remarks, former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori, who spoke in Urhobo, thanked the people for their support for the PDP and urged them to turn out enmass to vote all PDP candidates in the oncoming council elections.
At Koko, immediate past governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, noted that Warri North has always been the centre of PDP and thanked God that there was no loss of life in the choice of the chairmanship candidate of the party. He called on Governor Okowa to use his good office to seal the peace process already initiated in the LGA.
Chairman of PDP in the state, Mr. Kingsley Esiso, expressed confidence that the PDP will win in the polls, saying, “There is no other political party in the state; other political parties should come out and campaign if they trust in themselves.”
