LAGOS — The League of Yoruba Professionals in PDP, has accused former Minister for Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe of allegedly betraying Yorubaland.
While it tackled the former minister for supporting governor Nyesom Wike’s outburst on the South West describing him as a “turncoat and a failed leader.”
In a statement by its chairman, Dr Adegoke Adaranijo, the forum said: “We read with dismay and total shock the unwise pronouncements of Senator Seye Ogunlewe in an interview with a newspaper when he virtually derided his own people by defending Mr Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State Governor insisting that Wike should not apologize to the Yoruba people. Wike had publicly demeaned our people and our leaders as symbols of failure.
“Even when all leaders in Yoruba nation within the PDP fold had denounced Wike’s utterances as crude, uncouth, virtually uncivil and primitive, Ogunlewe, has aligned himself with the traducer of his own people. What a great shame. What a disgraceful aberration. A true born Yoruba person will never partake in this crass idiocy.”
“Ogunlewe is a total disappointment to the Yorubaland. He is a turncoat and a failed leader. He had behaved like an untidy, raggedy traitor to our people.
We, at the League of Yoruba Professionals in PDP, demand an immediate retraction of the defence of Wike by Ogunlewe and he should tender an apology.”
