lagos—The National leadership of ex-soldiers of the Nigeria civil war under the aegis of Carefirst for the Aged Welfare Development Association has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari led administration and members of the National Assembly for their efforts to approve the payment of compensation of N88 billion to the affected ex-soldiers who fought the civil war.
In a communique issued and signed on behalf of the ex-soldiers by its national Chairman, Vet Ubi Ikoi, he described the decision by the federal government as a welcome development, which when fully implemented will go a long way to uplift and assist the affected ex-soldiers and members of their family.
The ex-soldiers also appealed to the present administration to make the payment through the eleven affected states bank accounts and not to persons with the motive of representing the ex-soldiers, adding that it is only when the payments are made to the rightful registered beneficiaries that the exercise would be complementary.
The ex-soldiers remarked that payments made through the only registered and approved members of the association would also enable the government to checkmate any negative activities that might lead to fraud in the cause of the payment exercise.
