Edo LG poll: Chairmanship aspirant promises job creation

BENIN—AHEAD of the local government elections slated for February 2018 in Edo State, a chairmanship aspirant for Oredo Local Government Area,  Gabriel Iduseri, has said his priority if given the opportunity to serve, will be job creation and empowerment of the youths in the area.

Iduseri, who made the pledge while formerly announcing his entrance into the council’s chairmanship race at the All Progressives Congress, APC, local government Secretariat in Benin, said as an astute business man, he would employ his vast experience to harness the untapped abundant resources in the local government for its development.


He said he had empowered over 8,000 youths through his various business interests and would do at a larger level if given the opportunity to serve in the council.

He told journalists after his declaration that he was driven by his passion for the people to seek the elective office just as he expressed  confidence that with God on his side and the support of the party leaders, he “stands to emerge as the party’s flag bearer.”

He said, “My major priority if elected is to empower the youths through skills acquisition, assist our women with soft loans to improve their businesses and harness the untapped abundant resources in the local government for its development. Oredo local government is rich and if we are able to harness its abundant resources, we don’t need to depend on what comes from the federation account.

Earlier, receiving him, the Oredo local government APC chairman, Mr. Godwin Alabi him for his brilliant progrmmes for the council if elected and wished him success in his endeavour.
