Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Champions League, Plateau United and Mountain of Fire Miracles FC have been handed opponents for the continental soccer contest which begins February 2018.
Nigeria Professional Football League champions Plateau Utd will play Eding Sport of Cameroon, while MFM are up against Real Bamako of Mali in the first round of the Champions League. The two Nigerian clubs sides are making their debute in the Champions League.
Defending champions Wydad Casablanca of Morocco, Ahly of Egypt, TP Mazembe of Congo DR, Mamelodi Sundowns and Etoile du Sahel were given a bye to the second round.
The 16 winners of the second round ties will advance to the group stage of the tournament.
The 2018 Champions League will begin on the weekend of 9-11 February with the two-leg final set for November.
A change in the calendar for the Confederation of African Football means that the next Champions Leagues will begin in December 2018 and run through to May 2019.
After the 2019 final the competition will be held from August or September through to May of the next year.
In the CAF Confederations Cup, Enyimba drew bye to the second round, while Akwa United will face Hawks of Gambia in the first round.
