IT was a time of jubilation and thanksgiving to the Almighty God for the French speaking nationalists who are members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, La Mission De Jesus, parish Onikan, Lagos as the church celebrates its 24th year anniversary with the theme; ‘Divine Favour’.
The church which constitutes about 98 per cent French speaking nationalists is under Apapa Family, Lagos province 4 and was born through a vision which was received by Pastor Tony Rapu in the year 1992 while the church commenced service in 1993.
It was also revealed that the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was formally an Area Passtor of the church for 10 years.
Admonishing the congregation in his sermon tagged: ‘Divine Favour’, pastor-in-charge of the parish, Pastor Daniel Kalombo expressed gratitude to God for keeping the church for the past 24 years despite all odds and challenges: “It is God’s mercy and divine favour that has uphold us all these years, there are churches that we started together but are no longer in existence, we encounter series of challenges but God see us through them all”.
Kalombo charged the congregation to live a life of holiness, which according to him is the sure way to attract God’s goodness.
The church, he said, would continue to bring in French nationals into its folds until they all become Christ’s ambassador in Nigeria and take such back to their respective countries.
He however, said the church is faced with the challenge of how to bring into its fold more French speaking citizens residing in Lagos including a permanent place of worship.
The parish ‘La Maison De Jesus which means ‘The House of Jesus’, is the only French speaking parish of Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG), in Lagos State.
